Just wanted to introduce myself. Looking forward to chatin with yall!! I will be hunting Northwest Kansas the 2nd week of November. I called the wildlife biologist and they all told me that there are good #'s of birds in the Northwest quarter of KS. I hope they are right. I hunt the Stockton and Hill City area. Anyone else heard anything about this part of KS?

North west Kansas was lucky enough to get in on the early June and July monsoon rain showers that can up from the south pacific tropics through Arizona and central New Mexico. Those rain showers were timely and moved up over N. E. Colorado and N. W. Kansas.

S. W. Kansas and Oklahoma/Texas panhandle completely missed out on those bird saving showers. On the other hand, N. W. Kansas and N. E. Colorado received timely measurable rain an average of every five days.

Look at July 2011 rain in Goodland, Kansas:

Hopefully, by next spring S. W. Kansas, the Texas/Oklahoma panhandle will be out of the drought and back to normal rain fall.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Thanks for all of the nice welcomes!! Anybody else hunt NW Kansas at all? I have also hunted SW KS a few years back and did pretty will. The lack of rain in SW KS has kept us away for a few years.

Welcome to the forum. I have hunted southern KS the past 10 years once or twice a year, but calling around in the Hill City, Hoxie, Wakeeney area to see what I can find for this year. After I find out more, I will PM you to trade notes.

Danceswithquail. I have hunted that area for the past 5 years or so and love it. I have also hunted SW Kansas on up the western border. I like those areas also. If you get booked, let me know. I'd be happy to answer any questions. You may want to look at Hays for a place to stay.
