Well today I went mudding in my '03 silverado. While we were out there my odometer started flashing that my battery wasn't charging so we left got home and checked it out I had got mud into the alternator and it wouldn't start. So I washed the alternator out and jumped the truck and got it started the light stopped flashing and the battery was charging but a few minutes later it came back on. What would y'all do in this situation?

check your connections on your alternator its not uncommon for those nuts on the alternator to loosen up and keep you from getting a good connection you may also make sure there is no mud and debris near any of the electrical connections on the alternator

one shot one kill

all it ever takes is that one bite or that one shot to make a horrible day go great

go to your nearest john deere dealer and get a alternator for a 7455 cotton stripper. You will have to change the pulley out, but it is a 200 amp alternator with a lint/mudd cover on it, if you want a real fix but it will cost bout 400 dollars. I did this on my chevy

Don't just check the wires at the alternator. Follow them, one probably goes to the starter relay. On my saturn it was loose and it was driving me crazy.
