Have never used a call for teal, but have one to try this year. Anyone had any luck with them and if so, the peep ones or the 'teal quack' ones? Any advice is appreciated.

I can see you have both calls there 'peep' and 'quack'. Any advice on which to use and at what times. And thanks for your reply...

I dont have their phone number! Greenwings peep bluewings and cinnys quack That said teal are very easy to decoy or at least they will give you a look most times. All I could seem to shoot last season was teal, all season long

gimmick...stick to the whistle.
Don't let your ears hear what your eyes didn't see, and don't let your mouth say what your heart doesn't feel

If you dont have a whistle soft quacks from a mallard call work well. Just dont call too hard or too loud.

If the teal are flying, they should decoy pretty easily....give 'em a good chance to come in on their own before you start calling.

Surprised you haven't gotten the right answer yet. If you can lear the hen call then that's the one to use. Hens do over 70% of the calling. The drakes make the peep like the whistle does. Both will work but you can actually call and control your volume with a hen teal call.

I wont go without my Duck commander Teal Call. I use the same call on BWT, works great. The whistle honestly I can’t say I have every turned any teal with it, I just don’t think the whistle is loud enough. I guess if they are circling, you could give it a “peep” with the whistle, but teal tend to just come strait in if they are coming. But the hen BWT call, I have turned them, easy to use, just give a “gack gack gack gack”, listen to a CDT if you do not know what a teal hen sounds like. Many will say you do not need the teal hen call, just use a mallard call, well whatever, I can’t make mallard call sound as good as BWT hen call…

Have never used a call for teal, but have one to try this year. Anyone had any luck with them and if so, the peep ones or the 'teal quack' ones? Any advice is appreciated. Do you hunt with a dawg and if so do you use a whistle? You can very effectively call Teal with a single note from your dawg whistle. Experiment before season by partially covering the outlet and blow short, soft and persistant notes into it. BTW, you can also make a quite respectable Mallard drake "mreeps" sound with your dawg whistle and a little practice.

This is false...only the hen teal, regardless of which color does the quack. All drakes whistle.

thanks for the responses and advice. I had never thought to use one cause they always seem to come into the blocks. But i watched REAL teal doing their thing last week and i watched bird after bird drop into a group that was QUAKING when other flew over. It was amazing, the group would give a quack and the fly overs dropped like rocks. Made me re-think the calling. And i i asked the specific question because i never heard a single 'peep'. Cappy, no dog here, but thanks for the tip for future reference

This is false...only the hen teal, regardless of which color does the quack. All drakes whistle. Only the greenwings (drakes) do the peeping. All of the teal hens will quack. Never heard a bluewing or cinny drake quack or peep. The whistle is useless for calling ducks of any variety in my opinion with the exception of a widgeon maybe. Teal are one of the most callable ducks especially in teal season with a call. You can turn them all day long with some really fast quacks easily done in a higher pitch mallard call. One thing the whistle is good for is to throw to you buddy or partner when they are yackin on a duck call and tell them that you think the drake whistle or the peeps are what is needed to finish the birds. The best non abrasive way to get your partner to put away the kazoo. That's why there is always one in my blind bag. Whistle ain't gonna hurt ya and it aint gonna help ya. Just my experience. I know there will be some haters.

Drake Blue wings make a eeh eeh eeh eeh call. I have learned to do it on my Duck Commmander Teal call. It works best if you have birds sit down from you. You can make that call and 75% of the time they will get up and come in. I make the regular hen call like a high pitched mallard hen hail call only shorter. It can and has turned flocks that were going to just do a flyby.

While bass fishing I got within100yrd of a doz BWT. The place I was fishing didn't require me to move much so I just watched and listened for almost an hour. I was so sure if I sat there long enough I would hear some real BWT sounds first hand. Eventually they flew away after I moved a little closer. I hoped they would make a sound as they got up or wile they circled but no luck. I think I found some sound clips on the net once but I really wanted to hear it for myself.
