I think this has been discussed but I'll raise again. Where do you cut the hide before pulling it off (not going to mount)? Can you use it if you are going to cape the deer out for a mount?
Thanks!

That is a good idea but i would think it might work better to pull from the front as you could see what's happening a lot better.

skinning with a truck is definately the way to go.
Beer of the world beware. I'll kill an 18 pack just to watch it die.

is this a joke or does it actually work? i mean, i tug and pull to skin the dear, but i've never used a truck. i have a winch on my pickup... will this actually work, without the skin tearing and the line whipping through the air?

I know this will work, but why bother? I can hang one by the head, make a cut around and up the legs around neck, etc, and pull the skin off before i could get a golf ball tied in the hide. i just grab hold and go to pulling! (it may help that i weigh 300lbs!! LOL)

Sounds like you do it like we do it in Llano. We use one of those hook hangers in a (heavy duty) swing set (hang two at a time) and hang them butt up. Cut around the legs at the knees, use a gut hook to go from the inside of the legs to the belly and down and out the front legs and start pullin'. If it's still warm enough you can do it by yourself but we usually use two people. I've heard of using a golf bal before but have seen where some meat would come off with the skin if you did.

I have personally never used the golf ball but have seen it done right in front of me and it worked great. the hardest thing was getting a good tie around the golf ball so it would not slip off, once you got that down just drive away lol it slips right off like your wife’s blouse before she climbs into bed
If I put my wife in a high fence will her rack get bigger?

My local processor charges $7.00 to skin a deer. I can't skin one using any method for that price. Plus it keeps the local high school boys employed.

Great point! I do the same.
We have enough youth. How about a fountain of "smart"?
