Hey,

I got a new to me Rifle for Deer Season.

A Remington 798 300 Win Mag

Took it apart and the stock has this green stuff (looks like glass bedding, its hard as a rock) supporting the barrel and maybe some of the receiver.

And there is a bolt behind it, that is completely covered in a clear epoxy.

Is this an OE stock or aftermarket? Is this an OE thats been modified?

Thanks
.

Stock appears factory for that gun..Not sure on what you would call whet the green glob does. Is it hard/rigid or pliable?

Remington used epoxy "bedding" on many variations of the 798 and included an epoxy bedded reinforcement pin.

That will be bedding just in front of the recoil lug where the action screw comes through. Pulls the action/barrel down on a solid object for rigidity.

I don't think Renington built that gun...

Zastava did for Remington
