I seem to be hunting alot between Jacksboro and Knox City for dove, pigs, geese and such. I can extend my hunts a couple of days if I have even marginal internet access. Out there I have to use wireless laptop cards for that service. Currently have AT&T and am wondering if there is a better option for good service. What are you all having luck with? Do any of you have those cell phone antenna/booster kits on your vehicles for better reception?

We all use Verizon at our place in Knox County, it works well in Knox City, Haskell County, Seymour, Crowell, Benjamen the whole area.AT&T is the worst to use up there. Sprint will allow you to analog roam but that service is expensive if you make a lot of calls...

I live a lot further out than Knox City, so I really can't help, other than to say there ain't no such animal out here. i've tried several providers and they all have dead spots. I can even take you to places where sat. phones can't get out.

I have Verizon, I can use the phone all the way to Ruidoso, almost 400 miles. At the ranch, which is in Runnels county, it is dead, but 1 mile to the east or west I can talk all day and also use our air card. The Verizon map shows the ranch to be in a dead spot, my son's ATT works like a champ at the ranch.

I hunt north of Lake PP and have AT&T. Signal is usually around 2 bars when I've looked. Don't know if it's the hills around me, but once back towards I20, I get full service
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

U.S. Cellular is the best I have found. Have tried Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. A lot of companies that work in that are use US Cellular as well.

It all depends how far you plan to get off the hiway.
I can surf the net with my I-Pad and Sprint overdrive all the way to Ruidoso but my AT&T phone won't work. If I get 5 miles off a main road like I-10 I can't get nuthin to work.
I know the FBI and Texas Rangers give free internet service at many rest stops so they can track sex offenders. Once they go in and leave a digital tracer using your CPU ID, they track you around the world like a damn great white shark even if the computer is reloaded.

Sprint may be your best bet, back 5+ years ago we were building alot of sites for a company called Alamosa PCS, and they were a Sprint affilate and ended up buying them out.
There Name Alamosa stood for: Abaline,Lubbock, amarillo, midland, odessa,San Angelo
And in october you can get you a Iphone from sprint.

I have always had AT&T and my hunting buddy has always had Sprint, any time we are out in the middle of nowhere, mine is the only one that works. At my house (Cedar Creek Lake) I get a full signal in the house & he has no service.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I have bought a Smooth Talker like recommended above and will report back when I get back from dove opener. I have AT&T but would entertain a switch to be able to extend my infrequent hunting trips. I am really hoping this helps me out.

I've only found 2 places where ATT won't work. In a tunnel on the side of a mountain. And on this random stretch of road at our lease. Also think about what kind of phone you get because that can make the difference between good and bad reception.

I have an Iphone with ATT and even in the little towns like Haskell I have a hard time getting a signal while others in my group seem to have at least minimal service. When I had a lease in Oakalla I made a really tall antennae outside my camper where I plugged in my phone. It worked great and served as a gathering spot for others that needed that little extra boost.

VERIZON... when they bought out Al-tel, and they had the largest rural area and now with the combine of that and Verizon they have it all... I use to buy Cell towers for AT&T and I'm getting rid of them too...

If you are actually in West Texas then Verizon is best. From back in the day of Cell One, they had all the towers in WT. With all the buy outs Verizon now has them.

FIRST UPDATE- I got my Smooth Talker booster in today. I have it in my truck here in my shop. Was getting three bars on my ATT IPhone and when I turned it on the IPhone showed five bars. Not much of test I know but that was very encouraging. Road test this weekend.
