The boys on my lease said the GW paid them a visit this past weekend and he told them the rut started on Sunday in that area. They saw an 8 chasing a doe a few hours later, so I guess it's starting. Good thing I get to go out Thursday morning!

Yeah I hope he is right...when I talked the GW (Matt Thompson) on 11/8 he said the warm weather was hurting things...probably making it a night rut..he also said the bucks had still been running together up until about two weeks ago. I will get out that way on 11/16 and I see the weather is going to cool down some. Maybe it will be good and maybe the hogs haven't run all the deer off.

Man the rut is in the early stage right now. They should be pretty heavy into it by then. Good Luck. What part of Cottle county is your lease? We had success with the primos buck roar, but no luck with rattling.

jkk/DTE,
We hunted opening weekend on my place about 9 miles north of Paducah. EVERY buck we saw was chasing a doe. We're headed back out there on Sunday. Hope we haven't missed the peak rut.

TPWD webite says that peak rut for our area is not until NOV 19.

You will probably be ok. They didnt seem to be in the full swing. The deer I shot was pushing a doe but not real aggressively. Although I did see another one that was chasing them like crazy. I wonder if it can vary much from one side of the county from the other. I hope I can get back around thanksgiving!!!!!

I hunted around Delwin this weekend and saw a nice 10 chaseing a doe extremely hard but she wasn't feeling it. There will be about a 6 day swing around thanksgiving that will be prime time. On the other hand the evening before I saw that buck I saw a field with 20 does and no bucks so it will still be a week or so, but with this cold snap it will sure help things along.

The nicest deer I ever shot was on an Alfalfa field there in Delwin on my Uncles Place, Charles Carr, I was 12 I think....There are some big ones over there!

Just got back from our lease in Cottle county the rut still has not started yet saw a number of bucks but none of them are chasing doe's. We are hoping this cold front will kick it off this week and are planning on going back on Friday.

We hunted all weekend as well with no rut activity visible. Hoping this cold weather coming in will do something for us!

It boarders the "Triangle", 30,000 acre place. I don't hunt there but i know some guys that do. They said it is rediculous right now!

Good luck this weekend, hope you shoot a giant!
