I'm curious if anyone knows a good place to buy a replacement 8ft bed for a 2004 chevy 3500 Silverado crew cab 4x4 SRW? I have a Rawson bed mounted tool box and it has split the sides of the bed. The truck has 175K miles on it and it is a ranch truck. I don't want to put too much money into it. Anyone know where places that do bed replacements like CM Truck Beds or J and I sell the take off beds? popcorn

HW 287 around West of Decatur on south side. Guy has a lot full of take off beds. Don't know the name. Call Sheriff O maybe they can help with bussiness.

There is a place on Hwy 114 between Boyd and Paridise that sells diamond plate flat beds and takeoffs. Wish I knew the name of it but don't know. You might try calling the Boyd and/or Paridise Chamber of Commerce, perhaps they could give you the name.
I got these GPS coordinance off of Google Earth in front of the place. Latitude 33° 4'46.33"N, Longitude 97°37'33.71"W. It is on the North side of 114.

GM actually had a recall for that problem and were fixing the beds at one time when the new body style came out in 2000-2006. the beds would split in the corner and they were repairing them and then offering a repair kit that consisted of 3 pieces of angle and two drop legs that went to the bed to reinforce it but the steel RKI boxes were still a little to much weight on them especially the 30" wide one's. All though in my opinion if you build a truck you should expect toolboxes to be installed with lots of tools in them. especially if they are supposed to be "commercial grade".

as far as take off beds you could try Snyders in Holland,TX and Hendry's in the gulf coast area.

I stopped in there one time and he wanted 550 for a tailgate. Last weekend when I drove by it looked like he has a load of white beds- couldn't tell what kind but they looked like mostly Chevys. He did have one out front with $850 on it.

Thanks! I'll have to try and find the contact info. I heard about the recall. I am the original owner but, I had over 100K miles on it when it started to split. I doubt GM would want to do anything about it. It's a stout truck. I don't know how much life is left in it though. Works great for off road work at the ranch. Too much more bouncing around and the tool box is going to fall into the truck bed though.

Anyone take one off before? Is it worth the trouble or should I just pay someone to do it? popcorn

I google mapped it using the GPS coords. That worked great! I just went to street view and drove by. The overhead picture shows several truck beds. Couldn't make out the name and number on the road sign though. Next time I'm out that direction I at least know where to look.

Thanks!
