I have two Kimbers. Alot of trips to the range with both of them. Never had a hint of trouble out of either.
But, it's your money lol

I've got a Smith and Wesson 1911 model PD 5". Shoots great. I just got a 4" for personal carry, but the Smitty's is hard to beat.

Thanks. I think it is going to come down to the Sig or a S&W. I am not opposed to buying a used gun if one comes along. A like new used Dan Wesson would be optimal. up

The Spartans are Rock Island.

Try again.

You try again... Armscor builds the gun for STI... Armscor owns RIA... the Saprtans are RIA... Or you could just call them Armscor

the spartan is built in the Philippines at ria and shipped back here to be checked by sti.
ria actually sales the same gun too

Absolutely correct...

My son and I use Para Ordnance P14-45's in competition. Mine is a stainless steel Limited, his a standard version with allow frame. We've got thousands of rounds through each of them with no major problems. Only issue has been replacement of the magazine release in each.

We use extended basepads on the magazines. 17-18 rounds of .45 acp. Fun...

The Para is nice so is that Taurus. The only concern about the Para is it being a double stack. The grip may be a little too wide for me. It is a good looking gone for sure.

Hard to find the Ruger 1911 -- I'd add Smith & Wesson to the list somewhere between mid and upper tier. I've put my Kimber away since I got the Smith.

Spartan is built on a Armscor/RIA frame and assembled in Texas. My RIA full size is dependable, accurate and "looks" like a 1911. I think the Sigs and S&W's have external ejectors. I don't like those and won't own them. If you are ok with them, they are otherwise good pistols.

Springfield also builds on Imbel Brazilian frames.

I would certainly look at a Colt for a gun from the original 1911 manufacturer. They have several models under 1k. I just picked up a Defender in .45 and it's a wonderful carry gun, and accurate too.

If you are like me, you will love the 1911. Good luck in your search.
