maybe a dumb question, but what is the main difference between the rem 870 and the moss 500?

+1 for the Model 870 Wingmaster - it is super reliable. I call mine the coyote killer 12 ga slugs. Once you buy one you will own it for life. (My 2 cents)

My friend shoots a mossberg and loves it but it is loud....don't know why. 870 is nice pump or Yildiz OU 20 gauge or 12....nicer.

After buying my SBE II, I'm sold on Benelli for life, although I doubt I will be buying another shotgun for a long, long time

That's one of the ones I recommended to you. A buddy has one, and I considered buying one. He seems to be a big fan.

I'd get either the Browning or the Mossberg pump action shot gun. The Browning is a nice looking gun, while the Mossberg will cost a little less, but you won't mind getting mud on it. And it is just as reliable.

Do an internet search on 870 and Stoeger then decide if those are two guns you want to fool with as your first shotgun.

The mossberg is a POS and the 870 is not. Other than that, not much.

First shotgun was a single-shot H&R 12 ga full choke. Never missed a bag limit.

Sold it and picked up an 870 Express. Nothing fancy but a good solid gun.

"Upgraded" to a Browning Auto 5. Heavy and I could never get it to run right.

Traded it in on a Wingmaster...got stolen

Went back to an Express and have never looked back.

I have an 18" barrel for self defense and can trade it out for my field barrel in about three minutes if a hunt pops up.

My younger son has a Mossy 20ga and it does fine.

My older son has the 1100 and he really likes it.

I have found, personally, that an auto loader just begs me to shoot that last "prayer" shot. With a pump I have a little more discipline. The single shot really made me choose my shots carefully and, I think, made me a better shooter.

I have a Stoeger turkey gun and love it! Stoeger is made by Binelli and is identical to the Binelli Nova pump. I got it at Academy for about $220. Let us know what you decide on and how it works out for you.

Grab ahold of something, bite your lip, and GIVE IT HELL!!!!!

I went with the Stoeger P-350. Salesman at Academy seemed to know his stuff and sold me on this gun. He told me that he has been in the business for 10 yrs. Hopes he is right. Good looking gun and looks great on paper. Now I need to find a place to shoot it! My Father and I are trying to find a place to shoot some clay. We have everything but the land. If you guys know of anything, please let me know. Thanks for everyone's input on the Topic, I hope to own all of these guns someday.

He's right. The 870 is ultra reliable and can be adapted to almost any scenerio. You can't go wrong with one. Good luck.
870 is the way to go.they are cheap but they are great guns
