I recall sometime ago there was a thread on a cost effective solar powered light some were using on their feeders for hogs and coons...can anyone point me in the right direction?

Northern tool sells some for about $15

That seems a little cheap...do you know how long that will last? I'd rather pay a little more if it will last me longer.

Cheap is cheap,ya get what ya pay for.Mount them on a tree or up on a post to keep them away from animals

for the price of a good set of security lights you can get a wildgame moonshine or even a elusive wildlife kill light. spend another 20 bucks on a solar panel. then you have a light that has dusk to dawn and even motion with the moonshine light. but you have to shop and not just run to academy and grab the first one you see. i got my moonshine light off amazon and i am lucky to live near the elusive wildlife store in conroe.

if you have any 12 volt electrical skill then putting one together with spot/fog light, battery, solar panel and a motion, dusk to dawn or timer switch can be done but the price is not a lot cheaper.

i do have a couple of the cheaper walmart solar dusk to dawn lights but they are just OK.

I build my own lights and use a photo cell from elusive wildlife. I also have a couple of moonshine feeder lights with solar panels on my feeders. I only use the moonshine lights when I'm there. My other lights come on everyday.

Do you have instructions or diagrams on how to build your own? I keep hearing that's the best way to get the best lighting for the buck and they'll last longer.

Try this westinghouse Deluxe solar spot light. I bought 3 for $30 Am going to mount them on angle iron about 4' up so coon's cant get to them.
