In my mind...
A cull is something you dont ever want to see more of so you shoot it to try and rid the ranch/area of its genes.
A management buck is one you think shows potential, but after you give him a chance hasnt turned into what you hoped he would.
A trophy is the ones that turned into what you wanted them too. About as good of an explanation as it gets.

A cull is a buck that shows to be genetically inferior that a person doesn't want breeding and is tired of feeding. A MGMT buck is a deer that has shown it's potential and still not what the person wants to continue feeding. You just said the same thing in two different ways and they were both right. A cull is the same thing as a management buck. Management buck is the politically correct way of saying cull buck. Somehow these d@mn tv hunters have added all the pc crap to all aspects of hunting and that term is just another casualty. Like there is something wrong with culling the herd. A cull buck is any buck that you shoot to remove from the herd thats not a trophy.

And before anyone says its to remove mouths form the herd for better herd health blah blah blah...... I dont see them culling thier trophies.
Im all for trophy management it benefits whitetail deer in all ways but dont sugar coat it.
