I live in the woods of Cherokee County. Not too far from Rusk.

I hunt here in the bottom and in neighboring Anderson County, north of Palestine.

Well you guys sure make me feel ancient, I am 63 and quit hunting seveal years ago. But I was a waterfowl fanatic for over 30yrs, did the guiding & outfitting thing but when my last ol lab got too old and I finally had to put him down @ 14 I just kind lost interest in killin things. But I still enjoy hearin about waterfowlin, so if you boys don't mind I will just lurk around & see how the young guns do it these days.

Oh yeah I live in Ne.Tx.

Rangerbob, i know what you're dealing with, as i had my ol pal put down in Jan.08 and it took quite a bite out of my desire in the pursuit of ducks. I'm a far cry from hangin up my guns but it will never be what it was, nor do i want to be. Do you get my drift Rangerbob. I think you do. A man can be blessed with many good dogs in his lifetime but the special ones are rare.

Even though i have'nt reached your muturity i can appreciate you're situation.

I'm a duck addict and roam around n.e. Texas.

Rangerbob, My duck dog is 7 and she's slowing down. I am going to be where you are soon. I'll probably hang it up then too. I'm 59 now. It'll leave a void in my life. We hunt near Athens

Hey folks,
I'm new to the website also. Still wet behind the ears to waterfowl too. It's like crack to me. My friend took me a few times last season and it's been all I can think about ever since. I'm learning all I can but I know VERY few who duck hunt and have very little gear besides the bare essentials. I'm 25. Have gun(and waders), will travel.

Airborne,

A word to the wise, IF and I stress IF somone decides to help you out and take you to one of their "spots" NEVER EVER EVER tell or show anyone else the spot, and never ever go back to that spot without the one that showed it to you. That is the #1 sin in duck hunting, even worse than setting up too close.

Good Luck,

Steve
