Should shoot anything up to 175's some 1:12's shoot 175's well some don't. A bullet that will perform well on deer and is accurate is the Nosler Accubonds or Sierra Gamekings.

What? That your rifles don't shoot as well as a Savage?

His Remmy's will. He just has to put another $1500 into it to shoot the same.

Of course the Savage lacks the "auto trigger" standard on the Remmy eeks333

First go buy a bunch of different ammo and rank each type by how it performs in your rifle and by what ranges the various types of bullets are expected to perform at.

Second you need to determine what "long range" is. It can be a personal thing. My personal definition is anything beyond MPBR of the cartridge/critter combo, though really any shot over a fifty yards is long for me because getting close is what makes hunting fun to me.

Third if you are planning on hunting past the MPBR of the CCC, then do yourself and your prey a favor and plan on plenty of range time beforehand.

Best of luck,
