Just scouted one of my hotspots today and in an hour, I had over 500 whitewing come in. Unbelievable action. I hunted the Valley back in the 80's and never saw the numbers that I did today. www.twistedwillowhunts.com. Ron.

Runnels county, near Miles. $50.00 per day or 400.00 for a 2 day package with lodging and meals. 350.00 without meals. Got some great restaurants close by. Couldnt believe the numbers of whitewings. Owner says it's been that way for a few years now. It will definitely be some hot action. Ron

About 15-20 miles. Take 1929 to Lowake and then take the FM to Miles from there. The field is just outside of town. Ron.

White-wings have the same daily limit as mourning dove (15 per day total). The ones that have only "2" per day is white-tipped (white-fronted doves).

I am pretty sure that is what it is.

Part off of the Texas Parks website
"*In all zones, the daily bag limit can include no more than 2 white-tipped (white-fronted doves). The possession limit on white-tipped doves is twice the daily bag limit."

Hope they hang around for you. Last month I had a ton of them here but now there is just a few. Now I have more mourning doves than I did a month ago. For some reason the WW seem to move more than the Mournings do,,That's the case here anyway..

I would say that approx. 85% of the birds were whitewings and the others were morning. Stompy I'm sorry that you lost your WW but most of these are town birds and stick around throughout the year. The landowner has leased this field out for several years and it has a tremendous reputation with the locals.

You;ll also get some ringnecks too. They dont count toward your limit and as stated above, the WW are just like morning doves, you just need to watch out for the white tipped. There arent many of those around here. Ron

I checked out the whitewing again today and they are still coming in strong. Only thing that might mess this up is a good rain. I'll take the rain, but if you guys are looking for some good hunting, at a decent price, book it today. Day hunts or package deals with lodging and food. Ron

It's really amazing how these birds have adapted. I hunted the Valley in the 80's and you hardly ever heard of them above Alice and then all of a sudden, they're in San Antone, Kerrville, San Angelo, Abilene and all sorts of new areas. Makes for a better diversity for the hunter. Ron

$50.00 per half day or $400.00 for a 2 1/2 day package with lodging and meals. This action will be great. I can handle 10 guns on this whitewing place, other places can handle 6 to 20 hunters. Ron.

Webe, sorry for the confusion. In referring to a day, my intentions were for an evening hunt. In my last post, I wanted to make sure I made that clear with the half day statement. Day hunts are for evening only and package hunts will include one morning hunt if the hunters want to go out.

Again, sorry for the confusion. And unless we get that sorely needed rain, the action at my places is going to be very good.

Ron

Birds are flying great folks. I am a new outfitter and I am only going to offer what I know is good and what I know hunters are looking for. I have hunted for 45 years and have worked with landowners for the last 33 years and I am all about client satisfaction. If you are looking for a good hunting opportunity, I can offer you a great time and a great chance to harvest what you are looking for. Ron.

Thank God, we finally got 2.5 inches of rain this weekend. Still have the whitewings and other places are still good for mornings.
