I have a 10 point whitetail that i want european mounted. I dug a hole around an ant pile and i got the whole ant pile and i filled in the hole with that and some other dirt. I had it like that for 2 months and there was ants all over it and flys and maggots and everything but there was still some deer skin left on it. Is there another way i should have done it? I want your suggestions.
If it flies it dies!

If you are not set up for european mounts (beetles, degreasing tanks, high % peroxide, etc...), your best bet is to macerate it.
Put it in a bucket with plain water. Let set away from your house for a week or 2. Make sure the dogs or other animals can't drag it off.
Get it out again, pour half of the water off and fill back up. Leave alone for another week or 2. Keep doing this until its cleaned. It WILL stink so this is your warning.
After cleaning it, it will need to be degreased. Maceration will help this step BIG time. Water is the best degreaser with the bacteria in it. Mix hot hot water with dawn dish soap. Let sit for a day or so. Replace and keep doing. Repeat this step.
The warmer you can keep it the better it will work.
After this whiten with peroxide. There you have it. The perfect skull.
