In the last month we have had several hundred people sight guns in at our range. The number on thing I have learned is that:
Single shot rifle package deals are not a deal at all. You will waste lots of ammo trying to get them on paper as about 1 out of ten have a scope worth a flip.
The best gun for your kid is not a cheap one. Buy a decent youth rifle , you can alway get a full size stock later.
Cheap scopes are exactly that...
I know we all dont have unlimited incomes including myself, but my advice would be buy the best gun and optics you can afford as a gun is an investment.
If you make a trip to the range follow the range rules to the letter as they are made for your safety. Wear hearing protection and eye protection as we only have 2 eyes and 2 ears and you cant get them back when they are gone.
I have appreciated all the folks that have come to our range and enjoyed helping them get their guns sighted in.
Practice is a good way to keep your local range open and will also make your chances of success in the shooting sports or hunting much better. Thanks for reading my post.

Went to my local range today. The .257 Roberts was about 2" high 2" left at 100 yards. Now it is grouping the size of a quarter inside the 10 spot.

Glad to hear you made it out...picked up a box of .257 rounds and some primers today in between picking up and dropping off the kiddos.

Great post Mulliehunter

NEF SB2 Handi-Rifle in .223 with a Tasco World Class 3-9 X 40. Sighted it in about 2" high @ 100yds (in a 15 to 20mph wind blowing straight at me). Almost cover 3 shots with a quarter. I think it will do!!!
