3-9 var. are nice. My favorite is a old 4x Weaver with a post, like the German #4 reticle.

In that case BSA sweet 22 in magnification of your choice ! They definitely arent top of the line but Ive had several over the years and was pleased with all of them. Not the clearest but for $100 you cant beat it. I love the preset turret adjustments !!

Havent got it yet, but it is a M&P 15-22 Performance Center.

I have a bushnell rimfire which is banner glass set at 50 yards for clearer parallax. It has held up fine and was $40 with rings.

I have been very satisfied with the BSA 4x that I put on my .22 rifle. If you don't want to shoot at longer distances, you might consider an Aimpoint clone from Primary Arms. Well within the price range and would look good on the rifle.

a lot of people like the mueller apv scope for .22's.

I had good luck with an el cheapo centerpoint from wally world.

Are those primary arms clones magnified at all, or just 1x? I need a little magnification when squirrel hunting. Hard to tell what u are lookin at with the naked eye some times. Those little boogers hide good.

The PA clones are just 1x

Leupold 2-7x33 RF scopes are very very good, and set for 22LR type parallax and focal points...

My favorite cheaper scope manufacturer lately has been Leapers. Goofy name, but good dollar value quality.

I have one on my 10/22 and it's been great. For about $50 it's 3-9x32 with illuminated mil dot reticle.

The Cabelas Pine Ridge scope that came on my Savage 17hmr package is surprisingly good. I though the scope would be a "use it 'til it breaks and get a new one" type deal, but almost 4 years later and it's still there. No problems at all with it.

+1 on the Mueller APV. Also an excellent choice.

Already got my scope, guy sold me a new condition burris fullfield II, and a pepr mount for 200 bucks. Couldnt pass that up.
