I have noticed that many people are wanting really nice trophy animals for next to nothing... People think the animal are like free.. Actually some animals in the market such as Black buck are really high dollar right now.. I guess some people are needing to get rid of the animals.. but on the other hand I understand money is tight and people want the biggest bang for their dollar... People just don't need to think an outfitter or rancher is trying to screw them...

I agree but people are still going to try to find the animal they want to hunt for as cheap as possible.

You can tell the differance from a 1200 axis and a 2k plus one. We wont hunt any animal that isnt trophy class anymore. Not worth it. Trophy is in the eye of the hunter, I know, but we like to see mature animals. Our place isnt a come and shoot type place. We have to hunt the animals. We also take pride that our animals arnt "tame" and what we shoot are mature animal.

The other side of the story is, do you discount a what you call trophy animal if that is the only way you can sell it? Isn't it better to go down on the price rather than let the animal go down hill. He is only going to be at his peak for a short time. Besides there is a lot more people out there selling hunts than there used to be and only a certain amount of hunters willing to pay the big bucks for so called trophy animals.

This is really a case of whose shoes you are standing in. I understand that outfitters are a little miffed when people ask for hunts that are below what they can offer. I also understand hunters that feel degraded when prices are more than they can afford. The key is that neither side should take things personally and be offended. These are simply business deals that are negotiated like any other business deal.

All you well off trophy hunters may have a couple grand to drop on a hunt and maybe get one but us working class people who have jobs, kids and college fund payments have to bargain hunt to afford to hunt. Our time off to hunt is limited as well so this 5 days just to glimpse part of his head and horns won't quite get it. I'm fortunate to get quite a bit of vacation time but many of my hunting friends have jobs where if they take off, they don't get paid and need to be on places with plenty of game and realistic opportunities.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

Well fellas, I see both sides.

At the end of the day it's supply and demand, just like any business. If the guy doesn't find an outfitter willing to play ball at his price, no hunt. If outfitters start selling hunts so cheap that there's no profit in it, they'll eventually go out of business and others will as well. You'll start to see alot fewer outfitters in the business. Then hunters will be have to pay what those outfitters left need to make a profit. It's a market economy and generally regulates itself.

Best result is a fair price where the outfitter makes the profit he needs to keep going, and the hunter has a fair chance and experience, and hopefully takes a good animal. If either side get's greedy it doesn't work out.

People will try to low-ball hunts, and outfitters would like to get double that price for a real trophy and a great experience. Most will meet in the middle, those that don't will walk away.

You guys crack me up. All i did was test the water to see if there was anything out there and some of you (BMD) get all butt hurt. I understand you guys have to make money. Robert I understand where you coming from as well and I think you have fair prices on great animals but when did it become a crime to look for the best deal. This same thing last year happened when I started to look for an Axis hunt, The same group of jackass starting running their mouth. I found a hunt $1200 for 31"+ axis and no guide fee. All three of my party shot a great animal. It was the best hunt Ive been on. There were the same comments as now. All Im saying is post your price and dont get offended when people look for something better. I also love how people talk smack behind a keyboard. Youd piss your pants before you said anything to my face!!!

Ain't nobody but hurt but your ignorance amazes me you pay $1200 for a 30" axis and want to give $1000 for a 35" to 40" oryx, those two are not in the same league, a 30" axis is nit worth near what a 35 to 40 oryx is worth. Please continue to show ignorance rofl

Don't know what wrong with dealing a little, it's part of the game. If you don't do a little dealing, I asure you their is someone who will, it just takes a little time and patients and do your homework.

BMD I think you know what a deal is, you came across one recently and it made for some wonderful memories.

I have hunted with several outfitters from here because they are willing to deal, and I thank them for that, because I would not have probably been am to have gone, and I do pass their names around. The word of mouth goes a long way, y'all know, it will make you or break you.

This in not the TTH fourm where some have deep pockets So asking a little in return no biggie IMO.

I'll give you my perspective for whatever thats worth. Each year I set back about 1500 bucks for a public land Elk hunt. During years that I don't draw a tag out west I try and find something to hunt here at home. I used to be able to hunt something like Axis or Blackbuck's. This fall I thought I could find an Nilgi hunt for 1500 but I gave up looking several months ago. I understand when you have to go and buy and animal and feed it for a few years but I believe the Nilgi's have been pretty much free range on the Gulf Coast for 30+ years now and I don't believe the outfitters are buying them. Oh well, I guess I'll play with the whitetails again this fall.

BMD you right I don't know the cost. I guess I'm ignorant. I'm sorry I went to college and have a degree with a real job. I'm just looking for a deal. Do you pay sticker when you buy a car. Omg how dare you ask for a better price. I don't care what you want to charge I only care about what I want to pay. So go crawl back into you shack in the woods and leave me alone.

Not something to get all riled up about. Can't fault someone for looking for a deal. Caveat Emptor however, you get what you pay for.
