Without knowing your budget I would strongly suggest a "academy" style tripod feeder you can pick up for about $100.00. A steel barrel is alway better than any plastic, it should have a funnel and if possible galvanized lid which hangs down about 3". The first chance I got I would upgrade the timer unit to one that has a box that has some size to it such as the Boss Buck or HCR "G" box, both of wich use motors that have a 1/4" shaft. I believe the Moultie D50 is less than $100.00 today and while not infrared take pretty good pictures. You can upgrade all this "stuff" as time goes on. Oh yea one more thing get a good size varmit cage, about 24" in diameter not one of those cheap 12 X 12 jobs. Hope this helps.

On a tight budget I'd go with a barrel feeder with a unit from West Texas Feeder Supply: http://www.thecybershack.com/mm5/merchan...egory_Code=CTRLGreat feeder for the price. If I didn't need to run 1,000 lb. feeders this is what I would have. For around $250 you can have a VERY, VERY nice feeder that will last a long time.

Bought my metal 55 and 35 gallon moultrie tripod feeder from academy. Good price, and the barrel is solid, for the legs I'd suggest reinforcing them big time bc while they can hold the feeder filled to capacity, the legs do not do well with cattle and hogs leaning on them.
The moultrie deluxe solar panel with their feeders is great, it plugs directly into the side of the cover for the box, so the compartment is screwed on tight and not exposed battery wires or gaps for them to pry open.

I would suggest a hanging style feeder. Moultree makes an inexpensive, durable one. Combine it with THE PORTABLE LIMB from Outdoor Logics. Your feeder will be away from animals that may damage or destroy it and the portability of it will allow you to change locations if needed. OUTDOORLOGICS.COM

Depends on your budget and whether you want to spend some time making it yourself or not. If you want to build yourself: buy a 50 - 55 gal drum, funnel, and a leg kit. I recommend the forEVERlast control box in 12 volt. they run $100 bucks and you don't have to spend as much time.
I'd go with the All Seasons or Texas Hunter Products prefab feeders for the quality. All Seasons is carried by many dealers. Texas Hunter Products will ship for you as well.
