I live in north texas and I recently purchased a FOXpro scorpion, but I am not having any luck calling in yotes. I have never hunted coyotes before and I am wondering what calls that are included with the scorpion work best?

Jackrabbit/Bird in Distress calls are the TOP calls that will get you action. If you're day hunting, I wouuld invest in a "wigglebox", otherwise called a decoy box. It's a ball of fur on a long spring and the box is battery operated with a motor that shakes it. That would most likely supercharge your calls with something visual.
Coyote Pup in distress also does well in most applications.

Lightning jack is my go to call on the foxpro. Make sure the wind is blowing in your face or across you. If you don't have any luck during the day try at night. I've called more in at night than the day. Get someone to go with you and one person shines a light while the other is ready to shoot.

Daytime calling is pretty difficult in this heat. They would have to be pretty hungry and not to experienced to come running in the day. Night, dawn, and dusk are likely your best times. Coyote pup distress and jackrabbit have been my best sounds.

I agree. Just as with the hogs, it's also with the Coyotes... It's just way too hot for any animals to play out in this right now. The ground is just way too dry and hard for hogs to root in and too hot for the Coyotes to expect to find any food. You might find some desperate ones, that's for sure.

Now is probably the hardest time to call in coyotes because they are raising their pups. However, it can be done. If rabbit distress sounds dont work, try a few pup distress sounds mixed with some coyote pair howls. Lately I've been hunting with the raccoon sounds and have called in coons, coyotes, and bobcats.
