Looking for opinions on boat blinds, the good the bad and the stay away from! Any advice is appreciated!

Don't waste your time/money... just find you some good camo burlap, netting or the like. Cover your boat and stash it away from where you're hunting.

I have an Avery blind on mine. Haven't hunted out of the boat the last 2 season, and don't really plan on doing it this year.

I love Boat Blinds. When someone with a boat blind sets up across the cove from you, Your Golden.

The only time I've ever actually used it is hunting flooded rivers and lakes where the water was too deep where the brush/trees start. We knew the spots and usually walked in but floods got us in the boat blind. I hated it...

They can be useful hunting in that situation so if you're looking, the Avery ones are good but if I had to do over, it'd be burlap and a homemade boat blind.

I have a custom made pop up blind that I use when it gets really cold. I park my boat as close to the guys that set up next to me right before LST as I can and then walk over to my hunting spot. I can walk over to my boat/blind get warm with the propane heater any time I want. For some reason the guys next to me never get any action.

Seriouly, I spent 2k on a blind that I never use, but it looks awesome!

Like everyone else is saying... always stash the boat when ya can!

That being said I bought a Mud Buddy quick flip several years ago, but I have a good reason. My son was too young and my father in law is too old to stand in flooded/muddy duck grocery stores for very long.

A couple of years ago when everything flooded it actually turned out pretty useful. We ended up shooting puddlers in six feet of water and couldn't have done that without that blind.

Here it is. Notice how it confuses the vision of everything above the skyline. I had to pay extra for that feature, but man the dux never know I'm there...

A couple of years ago I went out late season with a home-town buddy that I hunt with about once a year (every time afterwards I say no way will I do that again - then I realize he's not a bad guy, just not the best hunting buddy, and end up doing it again). I leave the blind on the boat during season just in case I have to use it. Well, while he was putting on his waders he realized he had a BIG leak and the water was friggin' COLD.

At first we hunted together from the boat but it was late season without a lot of cover. After watching a few groups get right on the edge of range and flare off the boat I made the decision that it wasn't my dumb butt that showed up with leaky waders so why should I pay the price.

I got out, went down wind of the dekes in some cover, and waited for them to get as close to the boat as they would before they flared or he shot. I got to clean up a lot of his whiffs that day.

I bet he won't do that again...

I love boat blinds......do very well out of them. Here is my polar craft. Made out of conduit and tin flashing.

Thats one of the better boat blinds Ive seen. Still hard to hide on a Sandbar for me.

Thanks....I need some type of cover to hide it.....or else you see lots but no shots. We cut a lot of brush prior to hunts to make sure we are hidden well. It also gets pretty cold up here.

Although I stay away from them if possible here is what I have and why I like it.

2 bolts and it comes right off your boat and can be done with one person whether you want to just leave it home, put it on your buddies boat, or take it off and hunt out of it from the ground. It's durable, fits just about any boat, it's super easy and fast to set it up! Has veg pockets to easily brush it up. Hope this helps.

I think you got some good advice. I would spend my money on a good camo cover for your boat, when you stash it 100 yards away...

I spent the extra $ and got a beavertail. Easy to construct, can be removed or put on the boat in a minute or less, and ease of use in the field.

I jus built my blind, out of conduit and bimini fittings. It folds up when ur done, pull 4 pins and it comes out. I live in crandall, you should come hunt with us. And check the boat blind out

Rarely hunt out of my boat, Heater - cup holder - dry comfy chair? Take your time to ensure you have enough natural veggitation to blend in (from the waters edge over the top of the boat and back down the other side) and always back up to a tree line, tall grass, something that breaks up your sillouette. Find ducks on water too deep to stand in and you have eliminated half the billy's out there.

I have the Avery Blind on mine. I like it but I hate hunting out of the boat. I'll only use it when the water is too deep for me to stand in.
