Do you think using an ar15 is good for deer hunting? .223/5.56 or 6.8?

6.8 SPC? With out question.
.223 loaded with the right projectile? Also a yes.

There are several manufacturer options out there. Federal loads 55gr SGK's, 55gr Barnes TSX's and 60gr Nosler Partitions, all of which will flat stone any Texas White tail inside 150yds.

I just got my custom built 6.8 upper in last week and I have every intention of taking a deer with it this coming season. 110 gr Accubonds will do the trick I'm thinking or the 110 gr sierra pro hunters.

I have a DPMS pardus on mine, yes I know Im cheap but it doesn't rattle too horribly compared to some of my old AK-47 magazines or some of my old cheapo sling swivels

I used my AR this past deer season. I didn't take a deer, it was a crappy season up in Wisconsin, warm and wet. I saw 5 does the entire gun season.

But we did test some ammo and the Federal Vita-shock 60 grain nosler partition was very good. From my gun blind a long range shot is about 80m, and the 2 deer I have taken from it were 50m and 60m. With decent shot placement at that range I felt very comfortable trying to take a deer with a 5.56mm even after some heated discussions in the cabin.

With all that said I plan on going back to a .308 this year, just to keep the peace at the cabin.

Most likely I'll be getting a Vltor IMOD folks that have them rave about positive cheek weld that they get with them and say they lock up tight at each position.

I don't think that they are ever actually done.
