Yes and there is more in the path including a school house I hear.
My wife is driving to Ohio right now thru KY and it is raining hard enough to slow her down!

My friend just let me know his deer lease and everything they had is gone. Sadly I don't think much was insured since they built the cabin.

According to the Star-telegram it is being called the "Bearing Fire" because it was started by an overheated wheel bearing.

It is hard to believe how easy it is to ignite this dry grass.

A couple of weeks ago I was traveling on I-45 in Spring, TX and saw a truck pulled over on the shoulder with about 1/4 of a mile of grass burning on the side of the road. It appeared to have started by the wheels on his trailer somehow- maybe one locked up- I'm not sure, but it was crazy. Be carful with those cigarette butts, too.

the paper this monring said that the fire near Jasper was caused by a few hunters having target practice shooting at old propane tanks. What a bunch of jackarses...

I spend several hours at our lease, Murphy Springs, on FM2262 yesterday. We got a few campers out. Had the forest service stage a few dozers from our campsites as the helicopters flew back and forth trying to cool down hotspots the dozers ran from. I know my stands and feeders as well as others on the lease were consumed. Here are a few pics...

If it doesn't rain the next couple of days like they're predicting I may go get my camper and pull a couple of my feeders out too.

My farm is just north of Apple Springs in Nogalus Prairie (hence my handle). So far it hasn't crossed 94 yet and I hear they are doing all they can to keep it from doing so. Prayers to all those that have been affected and prayers for winds to die down and rains to come.

So sorry to hear about you guys' camps that burned.

Last total on land burned was 15,800. I will guess that's a low estimate.

The Forest service and Fire departments are getting stretched pretty thin with all the different fires. Pray they stay safe.
