Thinking about getting one and was hoping to get some feedback on them. Thanks

Good dependable pistol that functions very well. Downside is felt recoil from the tall bore axis and slightly heavy top side.

That was my biggest concern.

I have an XD tactical and my girlfriend has an XDM, both in .45.
I do not think the recoil is any different between a glock .45, or any of the government model .45's I have fired. The XD has nice features such as the loaded chamber indicator and the pin that protrudes from the rear of the slide to show it is cocked. The XDM has the match barrel. We shoot 100 rounds each when we go shooting and have had no FTF, FTE, stovepipes with either Springfield. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

They are very well built, but the Tactical .45 (thumb safety model) felt HUGE in my hands. I couldn't conceal it no matter how hard I tried. Would be a great range toy/woods gun though.

Looking at the XDm in .45ACP. It's the only one of the XDm's that you can use original XD series magazines in. Based on the performance of my XDm in .40 S&W, I'm wanting one in .45 as well. Excellent pistols in either series.

Look into the S&W M&P45. They are very similar to the XD but has a better "feel" in the hand and felt recoil is less than an XD and a Glock, IMO. It's definitely worth looking into before you lay out cash.

I have the XDm 9mm 4.5" barrel, love the feel and 19 round mags.
My next will probably be an XDm 45acp 4.5", black over OD green.
That is what I wanted on the 9mm too, but had to take all black.

I've got the XD45 tactical and it's a great gun. I don't see any recoil difference between it and other full size guns. It's got some good weight to it and feels balanced to me. On the other hand, the subcompact xd's do feel top heavy to me and kept me from buying one.

Problem with some compacts and subs is only the frame has been reduced in size and slide only in length.

The bulk of the slide is still there.
Another bother is the BIG SQUARE trigger guard on subs & compacts.
