I wanted to share you everyone our experience with Ron and his son Russ at Twisted Willow Outfitters in Ballinger. Both of these guys are class acts and went out of their way to ensure we had the best possible opportunity to get on some hogs. They have about 150 acres situated right next to the Colorado River near Ballinger and also put us in some blinds he has access to on other properties. Ron can be reached at (325) 718-9662.

As hunting goes, you don't always get an opportunity, but on each of the 3 hunt sessions my son and I were on, we saw hogs. The first night we had a single boar come into the feeder, but my son couldn't get a shot before it was spooked and ran off. The next morning we had two come into another blind around 3:00am and I was able to down one of em. That evening we went back to where we were the previous evening and had a group of 7 come in, my son got a shot off, but unfortunately missed. Later on that evening we had a group of 25-30 come in after dark and I was able to down two of em.....Even though my son didn't get a hog, he was able to shoot his first animal...a nice Fox squirrel and boy was Daddy proud...He's 9 by the way and was on his first ever hunting experience and looking forward to the day we can go back out and get him a hog.

Our hunting buddy Tim was able to down one hog on our 2nd day of hunting.

that squirrel will mean a ton to you moving forward. I still smile at the memories of my son shooting his first pig at JJ Kents over a year ago. He was breathing so fast he damn near feinted.. great picture for father's day. blow it up and hang it up.

That squirrel is huge, probably a 25 pounder, good job kiddo

Ya, he was proud of the squirrel. I took the head home and did a Euro mount for him...Turned out pretty good.

treerats are as much fun to hunt as anything that was likely first game for a lot of east texas folks tell little one to keep puttin them down i bet a hog and deer are in his future
