I'm looking for recommendations from some of you experienced 1911 guys on reliable 1911 mags. Who makes the best in your opinion. 7 or 8 rounds, it does not matter to me although I hear 7 rounds are considered more reliable.

Wilson Combat is widely regarded as one of the best on the market. I've always had good luck with Chip McCormick Shooting Star 8 rounders.

Although I've personally had some problems with Wilson Combat mags, they've been great in my other guns. I'm using Chip McCormick in my competition gun and they are flawless.

I have to agree hands down with KellyAsh. Tripp Research Cobra Mags are simply the best their are in my opinion. They are high price, but their followers last forever.
That is not to say Wilsons aren't top notch, they are. I just like the construction of the follower better on the Trips.

I have only used the Wilson Combat, but have never read or heard a bad word about the Tripp Research or Chip McCormick magazines.

None are better than U.S. military WWI vintage with fully welded floor plates and brass pins, except the ones with the plastic followers that can't tilt wrong in the magazine body.

Metalforce 45-798 are PURE JUNK! Out of 4 mags 2 would not lock the slide back from the start and the other 2 wouldn't after I ran them a couple of times. A few FTFs' too. I'm sending them back to CDNN. I'll try CMC power mags next.
