I need a small powerful flashlight, but can't afford the latest, greatest big name light. Any recommendations on a reasonably priced no name light (twenty bucks, thirty bucks?) and the best place to buy one on-line? Thanks!

The best I have seen is the Coast Products V2 LED Lenser Power Chip Flashlight. They will reach out 200 yards, use AAA batteries, and have great battery life, 30+ hours instead of minutes!

Up to 110 lumens of light output and 37 hours of battery life
Beam distance of up to 590 feet
Rear on/off switch
Lightweight and durable tactical aluminum casing, 4.5 inches
3 AAA batteries (included)

Amazon has them for $30.00 shipped: http://www.amazon.com/Coast-Lenser-Flashlight-Tactical-Power/dp/B000IJX47O/ref=pd_cp_hi_1

This is mine.

I use a Steamlight Polytac LED. I paid around $35 for it.

According to the package it's 130 lumens, shines out 144m, waterproof up to 1m, but it does take 2 3 volt batteries. I've loved it and actually picked up another since.

I consider it a great economical sub to Surefire or Mag-lite.

I have the LED LENSON by Coast and I love it. A friend of mine gave me a Stream light of SureFire, I can't remember which but it was not an LEB light and I was going broke buying those CR123 batteries. Get a Coast, AAA batties, LED, long battery life, plenty bright. 2cents

Garrity makes a great small flashlight that also comes with colored lenses. I think I've only had to change the batteries on mine twice in 3 years. I use it to read with the red lense while sitting and hunting hogs and take the lense off when I need a real flashlight to see that I don't step on rattlers in the dark. Must be reasonably priced because one of the kids gave it to me for a Christmas gift. Has a case and a side pocket for the different colored lenses. Keeps everything together. I like it. 2 Double A batteries

You could always buy a MagLite and then throw in an LED conversion bulb. It's hard to beat a MagLite! And they are available at any walmart.

X2 on Ledlenser...I have 3 of them that are bigger than this one but 2 of the three work with AAA and one works off of D cell that is like a hand held spotlight. The best thing is the use regular batteries that you can buy anywhere. Check them out as they make many models of flashlights.

stxranchman-I agree. I got a T7 also. It goes in my pack while the V2 goes in my pocket. Both can be scope or rifle mounted too.

T7-200 Lumens, 4-AAA batteries, 55 hours on high.
$67 shipped from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Coast-Lenser-HP8420-Focusing-Flashlight/dp/B001AT4XTO/ref=pd_cp_hi_2

You can get that T7 for $39.99 plus a little shipping or make him an offer.

Fenix E21 all the way.

After I misplaced my beloved Brinkmann Maxfire LX, I picked up a Fenix E21 and I love this light! I use a quick detach ring to swap it between my rifle, shotgun, and crossbow, and with a red lens attached it has aided in bringing home quite a bit of bacon. Luckily I found my Brinkmann under my truck seat as well and it makes a better general purpose flashlight in my opinion. The xenon bulb is not as bright, but I like the warmth of the light much better than the LED, but with a red lens on the xenon bulb is all but useless.

Just my 2cents YMMV

Posted about my Fenix E21 and then completely randomly stumbled up this http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/527051507/hexbright-an-open-source-light

Might have to try one out, build one myself, or convert some old flashlights. Just what I need, something else to tinker with. grin

I disagree - Maglites do not have any throw and are really only good for use as a club. The MagCharger is pretty good though.

Try the DealExtreme website - you can get a 900 lumen (bulb not actualy) for under $50. It takes about a month to arrive from overseas but they are bright.

Like others have stated - the T7 Led Lenser is a good flashlight.

x2. It is really easy to beat a Maglite. I have several and they suck.

x100. I have a Fenix E20 and E21 and those are the best AA flashlights I've ever used. Been hunting several times at night with them and everyone always asks what brand they are.

I still like the 30 hours of burn time versus the 2 hours and 15 minutes on the Fenix E21. The Fenix lights are well made. I just prefer the longer burn time which saves a lot of money on batteries over the long run. They both get the job done though.

I have a Fenix LD10 and LD20 the 10 uses 1 AA and the 20 uses 2. Both are great light with awesome run times. They are around 55-65 dollars on Amazon or Flee Bay. I buy rechargeable batteries and the low setting on these runs for more than 30 hrs I think. The more lumen the less run time but they work great.

Go to ebay ..look up cree flashlights. Some darn nice lights for a very reasonable price. They come from China, but then so does a lot of what we buy today in America.

What do you guys think of the strobing ones, are any of them good? Which red lenses fit on the Fenix E20 and E21?
