Let's see, 40274 / 9 / 2.5 = roughly 1790 birds per man per day? Wow!

Or 62550 / 9 / 2.5 = 2780 rounds per man per day. 64% hit ratio. But man, oh man, that shoulder after firing 11 flats a day!!

That hit ratio is pretty good (less than a box of shells per 15 dove is not bad). I want to go for the total experience (read: lots of good food and red wine and hijinks) but I'm afraid of having to have my teeth replaced and my brain reupholstered after all that recoil!

That's an unreal amount of birds. The only sad thing is unless they go back they could add all the birds up they shoot for the rest of their lives and it would be less than what they shot in the 3 days there.

I made a deal with the wife last year that if I get her wood floors for the house then I would be able to go to Argentina on a dove hunt. I thought the dove hunt would be the more expensive of the two. HA! Anyway...as soon as I have time I'll be able to go...that's the problem now though...I can't really get more than 3 or 4 days tops away from work.

Sure wish we could bring a few (couple hundred at least) back. Just couldn't bring myself to go and spend that kind of money and not be able to bring home any birds to eat. It was one of my lifelong trips as my Alaska trip I took back in 98. Need to go back.

What outfitter did you use? I went two years ago and it was more shooting than anyone could have hoped for. Just curious how many rounds came with the package and how many you had to pay for additionally. We are looking to go back.

Wow...

the shooting / loading is crazy.

Oh, and out of curiousity I did the math... sounds like about $4000 per man just for shells!

Did you take your own guns? If yes, what did you take and how did it hold up?

I watched a vid from CZ-Usa of the pro team giving their imported shotguns a workout, and it looked like a blast.

Some day, i WILL go down there. It will be a once in a lifetime thing, but would be well worth it.

Rented Benelli M2's from the outfitter for 65.00 a day. I just could not get myself to take one of my shotguns over and have to deal with customs etc....

I took mine on the trip and I won't be taking it back. It was a remington 11-87 and held up just fine. I took an extra set of rings but didn't need them. We were under the impression that it was going to cost us 100 per day to rent a gun but when we arrived it was only $45 for Benelli or Beretta.

So, if you can't bring them back, what becomes of.40,000 something doves?

Great question.

They are gathered and taken to several orphanages along with the Maria de la Esperanza Mission and the Mission of the Hermana Theresa.

This was taken into consieration when we picked an outfitter for our trip.

Good, I was hoping your answer would be something along those lines.
Are there outfitters that do leave them?

I'm not really into that, but I know a lot of people are.
