Please do not take this wrong
I appreciate everything our soldiers do and have done. They make the the sacrifices that allow us to be able to do the things we do everyday, by our own choice, which is a privilidge many people do not have. Hats off to all of you, I am honored!!!!!
Now, Are there any opportunities, threads, etc for Non Veteran diisabled people? If so, please advise.....
There is only one dumb question: "Why did'nt I ask about that?"
My idea of a trophy deer or hog mount is chicken fried, on my plate, ready to eat!

I agree. There are many of us who would or wor would have served if we could. I have diabeted which kept me from being able to.
Seems a little unfair.
With that said, I would gladly give up my sporting opportunity for a vet if the situation presented itsself.
Maybe someone with the means/land to present some outdoor opportunities will see this and be gracious enough to volunteer to provide to ALL disabled people, Vets included.......

I am also considered disabled for certain things. My back is bad from arthritis and I have had multiple hip replacements. This all kept me from serving in the military. Finding places to hunt can be a challenge. I now walk with crutches (hope to be off one day) but I use a crossbow and you wouldn't believe the number of places that are just flat out rude to me when I ask about hunting there. My crossbow doesn't shot any faster than the Matthews and other bows I see people using. But I just keep a list of the really rude ones and don't recommend them. But there are outfitters that will let me hunt with crossbow and don't care. Those are the places that get my money. I will most likely not be able to do a typical mountain elk hunt. Some states offer certain "special" hunting options if you are mobility impared. Check out New Mexico and I think Colorado. Good luck.

there are a few guys on here that do hunts, if you are disabled and NOT a veteran. It is usually taking does, but you can't eat horns, no matter how long you grill em, boil em, or bake em!!!! Just put in the guide and outfitters section, that you would like to get a meat hunt and be honest to them, and you will get offers . I have been here for 3 years, and these guys are great
avid deer hunter that is disable but God has still blessed me.

Wanted to revive this topic. There are a lot of us out there in this situation but we seem to get ignored, forgotten, etc. when it comes to hunting opportunities and such since we are not vets
Don't take this wrong, our vets are heroes and deserve everything they can get, just wish there was something out there for non vet disabled people......

Thanx for reviving this thread JD. I am still in alabama till fall and then the plan is to move to the ft hood, harker hieghts area. Here in bama, there is actually a hunting trail for disabled only hunters. I wonder if texas has something similar. I am a leg amputee. I am scheduled to hunt the 14th till 15th of july with JJ ( www.jjkentoutdoors.com) On this site he is known as whiskeyandme. You can find reviews and posts with pics of pigs clients have shot recently inside the hog hunting area. he is in the dallas area. feel free to PM me anytime, would love to coordinate with any disabled hunters for future hunts, especially this upcoming deer season Paul 334-718-1641.
