It is probably a mistake on my part by commenting on this remark, but I feel that some elaboration on my part is necessary. If you were referring to my comment as to the "Slight edge of inherrent accuracy of the short action cartridges vs. the long action", then I would like to point out that I also said that "that doesn't mean that long action cartridges are not inherently in-accurate as well", quite the contrary infact. Most all long action cartridges can be made to be VERY accurate. I would be very interested to see the statistics on what is being used in BR circles these days in reference to SA vs. LA. Any good handloader can make any cartridge be it LA or SA accurate given enough time and diligence. You and I just may have to disagree on this one, but I do believe that there is an edge in both Accuracy and Efficiency in a SA cartridge versus a LA...and not sure how that can be disputed in any other way.

I've killed a lot of hogs with my Savage 308. But I got tired of killing one or two and then watching 8 or more run off.

SKS is the caliber you are looking for. grin

I have had both and love them both. I just keep going back to the 308. I am very confident in it and that i have made great shots and like the shorter action as well. With that said I would get either gun and focus more on good glass. Expecialy if your going after porkers at night!
