I have a small plot of land and have very good idea on fall feeding methods and know what works best for me. However I am not use to feeding in the summer and wanted know what will the deer come to best. Corn, Corn/Soybean mixture, Protien pellets (spincast method)? Any experienced help will be much appriceated.

Our deer aren't hitting feeders very hard right now but we'll keep throwing just because thats what you do.I've never had much luck with protien, just dont put it in a spincast feeder because it will clog up(as many hunters on this site have experienced)corn soybean sounds good,I would definitely give that a spin.

Alfalfa hay will get you the best bang for your buck.

If you are sticking with spin feeders I would try the corn/soybean mix in them and a protein block and alfalfa hay if you have no cattle. Something in that mix will work for you and then you can decide how much to feed. Keeping the same routine in the fall and winter will help hold deer on your property on the feed.

I always fed a mix of coated hi-protein pellets and corn from January thru September. Never had a problem with clogging. When we had a dry year, had to run the deer off the feeder so I could refill it.

Feed all year and minimize disturbing them. We do our normal fence-checking and maintenance but limit the joyriding. It's dry up where we are and the deer are eating 400 pounds of protein a week out of 2 feeders on 130 acres. The corn is turned back to once a day and it's mostly being eaten by other than deer.

We definatley see alot more hogs in the summer, but since we have added water stations at the feeders as well the number of deer we are seeing hasnt fallen off like it has in years past.
