i whacked a coon the other night and my 7 yr old daughter wanted the tail. so i cut it off and put it in the freezer.

what can i do to safely preserve it.
she wants to keep it in her room.

i had a fox tail too, but left it in the shed by accident and when i got it 3 weeks later, the hair was shedding and easily pulling out if you picked it up.

thanks.

Cut it length down the underside to remove the tail...skin it it off.

Then just salt it for about a week with table salt. Add new salt every couple of days to ensure its completely dried out.

make sure you cut it all the way to the tip of the tail. that way no moisture will stay in & make it rot or smell.
