we have a real hard time getting cell phone service at the ranch. A buddy told me about a cell phone signal booster they had available. He did not know much about it. Has anyone heard of these or have one that can tell me more info?

Hawk Electronics used to have one that plugged into your cigarette lighter. Might try there.

There is a cell signal booster made by Wilson Electronics sold at Best Buy that you might look into. A lot depends on how good of a signal that you have at your location.

Look at the Wilson unit at Best Buy or online. FYI-AT&T has the best coverage in Texas.

AT&T used to have the best coverage in Texas but in some areas they suck right now. I have horrible service with them right now and Verizon has vastily improved and has better service in my area right now. Friends I have use the Wilson signal boosters.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Yes we have them where I hunt, both places have metal roofs and it kills the cell signals.
We put in 2 boosters and its clear as can be....I for one didnt like this because when the married guys were there it was quite, now we cant even have a card game without somebodies wife calling up every 5min!
BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU DONT HAVE!

VERIZON CUSTOMERS:
Here's what I have found as far as getting better signal with Verizon. Over the last few years my uncle a former Alltel customer and now Verizon customer because of the buyout was always able to get signal at the ranch and I wasn't. It got me curious as to why he had signal and I didn't since we were both Verizon customers.
After some research and talking to different people, it turns out that since he was a former Alltel customer, his account was setup as such that he was picking up the Alltel towers. The migration of the Alltel towers to Verizon is not complete. I didn't stop here. I figured if we're both Verizon customers, we should both get the same service regardless of whether or not you were a former Alltel customer. So, I called and got a Level 2 technical support person on the line. I did this by calling one of the local stores and specifically requesting that they connect me to a Level 2 technical support person since Level 1 can't do jack except say there's nothing that can be done.
Once I got the Level 2 person on the line I explained the situation that my uncle gets signal and I don't, we're both Verizon, and that the only difference is that he was a former Alltel customer and I have always been Verizon. He asked for my uncle's phone number so that he could lookup his account and see what towers he was pinging. I told him the nearest town (Ballinger) and said that's where I need to get signal at because my uncles gets signal and I want it too. He was very nice and easy to work with. He was able to see exactly what tower my uncle's phone was hitting and he manually setup that tower under my account so that whenever I am in that area it will look directly to that specific tower.
That weekend I went out to the ranch and it worked. I got signal just like my uncle did. It was great. Now, the only think you can't do if you set this up is a *228 which updates the towers. If you do that, it will wipe out what the Level 2 tech support guy did and you'll be back at square one.
So, if you are with Verizon and having trouble getting signal somewhere, get in touch with a Level 2 tech support person, tell them the area you want to get signal, and see if there is possibly an Alltel tower that they can set you up on. Worked for me. Good luck.
Yeah, don't listen to me. I'm just an idiot.
Lol. Duckbill that was funny! The dude up top has already taken lots of bone before this deer, both mule and whitetail.
