Went and look at 8,000 and some change hf ranch near Batesiville,Tx got some awesome deer on it. Just dry dry dry which is everywhere right now. Just hard to justify right now buying another ranch and another $30,000 a month feed bill. Wished more people would spend money hunting.

Sounds like a nice place. Personally, for me hunting has started to get just to expensive. I can still do a couple of hunts a year and finally pulled the trigger on Africa so kind of blew my budget. But (this is not a knock against landowners, between foodbills, taxes, mortgage costs and everything else) animal prices have gotten high. I paid $800 to shoot a buck this year and many of my friends think I was nuts. The exotic business isn't as big in Michigan where I am from. So I see neat animals, but by the time you wrap up cost of hunt and taxidermy I can really see only doing one hunt(exotic) a year, except for does or hogs for food.

Yes sir I totally understand. It's like only whoever has the most money can shoot the. Biggest animal and the most animals. The cost of land is high dollar one place is $14,00-$17,000 an acre by the ranch in Kerrville

Yea, I am not even into have the "biggest" animal. Could care less. I am really looking for animals with character. The blackbuck I shot was a deal for $600 because the guy wanted him off property. But he was old, broomed horns, some scars and his hide was really dark. He looks great on wall, but I couldn't tell you how long his horns are. I don't care. So I just have to get picky about what animal I wanna hunt, like I think alot of people on here do. Would love to have land in this state, but I will have to settle right now for driving back to Michigan to hunt deer on farms. I can't even fathom $14k an acre. I was just looking at 77 acres in Michigan for mid $40k's. Just wont get to use it a lot. But there is deer, turkey, coyotes, bears to hunt.

WOW $14K-17K and acre, that place must be high fenced and stocked with playboy playmates.

I am trying to show people in the north Texas market the Southern Oklahoma area.

I know a guy looking to sell 900+/- acres with river frontage

50acres of food plots
atacosta blinds (12 I think)
protein feeders (12 I think at 1 ton each)
2 stocked tanks with fish feeders and nice docks
Heated and A/c barn with bathroom and shower
walk in cooler
covered equipment parking
2 water wells
been on deer managment for 5 years
30 doe tags annually

All within 1.5hrs of DFW airport and I think hes wanting $2,000 an acre

I don't even bother looking at anything under 30 sections these days. Too high. Lawyers are buying up all the small places.

Land in the hill country is so freaking expensive bang! The ugly rocky canyon land here in Boerne starts around 10k and only goes up from there. Wish my family would have bought more when they moved here but I guess in reality they couldn't afford it then either.

boerne is rediculous.

kerrville and bandera is still resonable for larger acerage.

I'd rather pay more for that area than be in blanco county

Yeah, I figure it is about the same as someone who can own an off-shore fishing boat that costs $1M+ and complains about $5K worth of fuel to take it out for a weekend! grin

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
