The Salt Grass in Galveston seems to be far better than all of the others . . . Not sure why.

The Spot

Gaido's

Stingaree in Crystal Beach . . . My first vote, personally.

A little seafood place in a strip mall on the left as you come down the main drag was the best place we ate at last summer. I wish I could remember the name but CRS....

We also had dinner at a place that was said to be good but not much better than Long John Silvers!!! It was in a neighborhood and again CRS kicks in...

Fishermen Wharf near the strand. I think its part of the Landry's chain so not that "unique" of a place, but good food and pleasant staff.

Benno's on the beach, 1200 Seawall Blvd.

It's a REAL crab SHACK! Butchers paper on the table, plates of crab poured on it (whole), wooden mallets (gotta crack your own).

Fabulous,

Phil

Tortugas, right at the corner of seawall and the main entry street, they have amazing mexican seafood and they are cheap! Landrys is waaaaay overrated, I wouldn't go back. Mario's had awesome pizza and reasonably priced Shiner.

Simp's Soulfood 26th and Ball (a couple of blocks off Broadway). They have good shrimp, stuffed shrimp and catfish, ox tails, smothered pork chops. i think it's just open for lunch.

Leo's Cajun Corner at the corner of 32nd and Broadway makes fresh sausage everyday and has 3 or 4 smokehouses. His smoked boudin is really good. (Order the gumbo with out rice and put crayfish boudin in it instead.)

Have heard good stuff about Shrimp n Stuff but haven't been.

X2 On Gaido's and Stingaree. Both are have amazing seafood. Gaido's might be a little pricey for some, but it has two of my all time favorite seafood dishes...Snapper Michael and Snapper Sapparito

Simp's is closed, due to tax seizure.

I'd rate Gino's Italian on Stewart Rd., way ahead of Mario's (either 61st St. or Seawall), but Mario's has a larger menu. Still, Gino's quality rocks.

There's a hidden, Northern Italian gem here, DiBella's at 1902 31st St. It's in the middle of a neighborhood, and isn't on the tourist track.

The Original Mexican Cafe, at 1401 Market, uttery dominates Tortuga. (Tortuga is a chain, OMC is a 100 year old, single premise establishment.)

Leon's World's Finest BBQ, at 5427 Broadway, has the finest dry rub ribs in existence. I highly recommend the "riblets"!!!

Enjoy!

Shrimp N Stuff is fair at best. Long John Silver's is far better, if that tells you anything.

Gaido's is overrated, and too expensive for the quality. They are now banking on their history and location to draw in business. I honestly had better seafood at Rainforest Cafe down the street.
Fisherman's Wharf is solid, but nothing to brag about.

Neither are what they once were circa '90.

Did they rebuild after the hurricane? I am just assuming it was destroyed with the rest of Crystal Beach. I always loved Decouze(sp) the crawfish nachos and soft shelled crabs we so damn good my mouth is watering thinging about it.

+1. Guido's is the biggest rip-off on the island. We go through this at least twice a year.

+2, I think Gaido's is the most overrated restaurant I've been too.

Clary's once you leave the Causeway and take the first exit, turn right at Teichman Rd., down on the left.

Stingray is a good one and if Sartin's was still in Crystal Beach, it was an excellent eatery as well.

Gaido's was tops back in the 60's - 80's, but then changed so many things and charged for every item (salad, baked potato, etc.) instead of having a complete price. Sure not like it was back then and sure miss the old joint.

If Snoopy's is still around, it's worth trying.

Late response, but yes sir, they're still there. I love that place.
