Pulled cards from the cameras at the protein feeders today. The "boys" are beginning to show their antlers. Now is a fun time as we watch the development. With the drouth, it is going to be interesting to see how things turn out. They have been hitting the feeders heavy.

Yes sir it will be real interesting to see how this year turns out. They have double feed consumption in the last 3 weeks.

With the amount of feed the deer are eating and how much the price of it has gone up it is going to be hard to break even much less make any money on the deer this year. Oh well, as usual what I loose on each deer I make up in volume.

I have the same concerns. I have allready blown this years feed budget. But I am committed. I feel that if I am going to influence the ecology of this ranch, I also have a responsibility to see it through times like this.

If you stop now I think you could do more damage to the habitat with drought in place than if you had not been feeding in the past. Larger and healthier deer are eating more than they would have if this were before you started. More deer on the place to due to increased fawn survival could factor in also. Feeding will hold more deer on the place and can draw in deer from great distances in dry times.

Yep, hitting my feeders pretty good too. Need to get my cameras out and see what's going on. I'm in the process of trapping coons at the feeders at this time. Got 3 in the past 2 nights, buzzards are eating good....
