Personally, I've used it with great success.....if she feels confident in it and spends some range time, knows where the vitals are, knows her range limitations, and executes it will work. If one of those things are off, get ready to stomp around the woods for a while looking for a wounded mess.

You can kill deer or pig with it. You have to make a good shot. To far back and they will keep running!

For what it is worth, I love the round. Do I use it for deer hunting? Not most of the time. Have I? Yes.
Shot placement is important, but equally important is the right bullet for the game.

Shot placement and bullet selection is critical. Killed many deer and hogs with them over the years, all were head and neck shots.

Use the correct caliber for the game being hunted. A .22-250 is a varmint round, designed and built for varmints. Not designed to take big game.
Nice little round for prairie dogs, coyotes, and varmints, but I would use the correct and ethical caliber for the game being hunted.

obviously that is to light i hunt with a .22-250 quite a bit.....but limit myself to head/neck shots on deer. i use a 55 grain V-max but would't shoot a deer in the body with one. had a client kill a doe last year with a heart shot at 175 yards....got the job done but the blood trail was less than stellar. absolutely deadly with head or neck shot though

I know they have been on here before but both of these were shot this past season with a 22-250 (55gr coreloks) by my 9yr old son. Both shot at 60yrds. We practiced a lot at this range before hunting. He double lunged both, with minimal tracking needed.

If you're going to use it for deer, shoot tough bullets. I have had good results with the 53 gr Barnes TSX, tough little bullets.

My nephew has taken 3 deer with his in the last 3 years. A doe, a six point and a spike. Two dropped where he shot them and the other ran about 40 yards. Two were shot behind the shoulder and one was shot in the throat patch.

Use a bullet designed for deer not varmints. Winchester makes a 62 grain Power Point. Barnes TSX is a good one. And the 60gr Nosler partition.

I've killed several with a 22-250, and all ran less than 30 yards. I just walked to the spot where I shot them and looked around and saw them.
Two years ago, guy on the lease shoots a NICE 10-point at 50 yards with a 30/06 and we still have not found that deer.
So, what does this say? Practice and make a good shot and you will recover your animal?
Yes, I believe it does.....
