My dogs look great, feel good and can't wait to eat every evening. My oldest lab was kind of picky and would not eat enough during the hunting season. I was worried about her weight loss so I changed over to Pro Plan w/ shredded chicken and it has worked out nicely.

x3, but lamb and rice. I will switch if I can find something better, reasonable price, and close to the house. Ran out food for her not too long ago and bought some really high quality stuff at Tom Thumb (late hours), Molly loved it, and her stools were much better, they did not sell it at my local pet store or I would have probably switched, not going buy the small bags they sell at Tom Thumb...

But Pro Plan seems to work fine..

I use Enhance. I think they may have changed the name but the feed store still has it.

I use Purina ONE Large Breed Formula. My lab has been super healthy his whole life. Everytime we see the vet he is just amazed at how good he looks.

However, he turns seven next month, so I think I'm going to switch to the Pro Plan Large Breed Senior Formula.

Nowadays, it's truly hard to find a BAD dog food, and our canine buddies almost universally eat better than we do.

Think of what you ate yesterday, and how many stars would be awarded to your diet. Well, let's see....

Five cups of coffee (or an energy drink) and a Honey Bun or a Pop Tart for breakfast.

Four Allsups Beef and Bean Burritos, a bag of Cheetos, and a 32 oz Dr Pepper for lunch.

For supper, you ordered a Meat Market pizza with extra cheese. And another Dr. Pepper of course.

Then, while watching the Rangers on TV, you drank 3 Shiners and snacked on venison summer sausage with some sharp cheddar on Wheat Thins. Finally, after the pitching blew another save, you scarfed down two Little Debbies before bedtime.

So how many stars for that bit of nutrition? It wouldn't even rate zero....I'd give it a negative-two.

Here's the take-home.... If your dog is doing well on its current diet, don't change it willy-nilly. He IS eating better than you.

Well put! up

Kibbles and Bits... Since I switched to this my dog retrieves 3 birds at once in a single bound...

But Nutro is actually what I feed her. Good stuff.

Really is great dog food isn't it? The last purina we were feeding was the top Purina, Pro Plan I think it's called and we thought it might have been something was making my Vizsla sick sometimes. Changed to Blue Buffalo after reading reviews on that site or one like it. After the switch, no more sickness, and we realized what we thought was just my dog getting older that year, was a food problem. More energy, better coat, easier to clean the yard. Seriously, it was a big deal. We have since switched from the regular Blue to Wilderness. The purina was not a problem when she was younger so it may have been a metabolism change with different needs in food, and/or a change in the ingredients Purina was using. But we are sold on the Blue Buffalo Wilderness.

my 11 year old dog acts like he is 4 when i come home from work. he bolts around the yard lookin for stuff for me to throw.

I don't know if it's "all" the food necessarily, but I know 4 years ago before i fed them the BBW, his energy level was lower.

My 7 year old lab used to have bad allergies when she was young, they are gone now.

Maybe coincidence, but I'll stick with it.

Just to clarify, that BBW is for Blue Buffalo Wilderness, not Big Beautiful Women...

I was using Arkat Veterinary Formulated and Pro Athlete lines for a while but recently switched to another brand I can't remember.

The most important thing I have found is NO CORN at all.

In the main stream lines corn is often the first ingredient and can lead to skin disorders, allergies, and I believe it also encourages cancer in dogs.

Fromm dog food.. its a little expensive but the best I've found. I was feeding them blue buffalo but my black lab has some food allergies but after a few weeks of fromm grain free they were all gone.

WHATEVER ANY OF YOU DO......STAY AWAY FROM BLUE BUFFALO!!! That stuff nearly killed my dog and my vet said it is by far the worst thing you could feed your dog.
