Through an 8" line resulted in an approximate 2-1/2" drop in wetlands level. Today at 5 pm Monday around 11:00 am That's about 75,000 gals of water out strictly via gravity flow (325,000 / 12" X 2.5" x 11 acres) through an 8" line means that water is flowing at better than 40 GPM ... and it sure looks like it based on the velocity out the downstream side. Depending on how much rain we get over the next few days, I should be able to start re-seeding early next week. BTW ... Had some new equipment in harvesting the hay that was cut yesterday all around the wetlands. Quite an operation to watch ... The three pieces in that one pic are close to $650,0000 worth. The operator is out of Kansas and spends a few months each year harvesting for hay farmers in N TX.

Pretty sweet pics...Should see the combines in the rice fields, just one combine could run $500,000 to 1,000,000.

My rancher is going to combine some of his stuff this spring... They have pretty much baled what they are going to... He has three combines all brand new Case Internationals... Talk about some coin! J.J.

What is he doing there? That looks like a combine with a pick up belt like you would use if you swathed grain but how is he getting it baled? The trucks do something?

I would broadcast directly onto the mudflats while they are still mush.

What is he doing there? That looks like a combine with a pick up belt like you would use if you swathed grain but how is he getting it baled? The trucks do something? It's not baled. It's first cut and raked as usuual. Then this Harvester travels down the windrows mechanically gathering up the hay, moves it via conveyor up to an internal area where it is chopped to the desired size and then via blower delivered into the open top truck traveling alongside it. The chopped hay is then moved in the trucks to a storage area, compressed, tarp covered and held for future use as needed. Our hay pasture exclusive of the wetlands is 45 acres. We usually get 100-120 1,800 lb bales per cutting. 100 bales = 18,000 lbs. The Harvester filled nine truckloads yesterday at an average of 25,000 lbs/load. That's approximately 225,000 lbs worth of chopped hay, better than a normal harvest for the cutting. The downside is the cost. Runs between $65 and $100/acre. Even at $65 that's $2,925 for 45 acres. At $35/bale, it requires the sale of 85 bales just to cover the Harvester's charges and that doesn't leave much left over for annual costs of aerating, seed, fertilizer, cutting, raking, and fuel.

Hmmm.... I Drove a combine last year up around liberal kansas for a few farmers. I bought it new for a million and a half. Now that put a little dent in my piggy bank.
~~Hunting to me is kind of like air to me also. I cant live without it~~

Pouring again here. Hope it raises the ponds some. Last time it barely did anything to them.
