The land that would fit me best would be single choice
	80 acres in South Texas, 20 acres of deep tank with fish and good duck habitat. 50 acres of milo and sunflower for dove
	200 acres in Central Texas, medium size deer, rio turkeys, some pigs, one small 1/2 acre tank
	300 acres in East Texas, lots of pigs, medium to small size deer, piney woods with some marsh and wood ducks on a creek
	400 fairly flat acres on the Edwards Plateau, low fence, large deer and javelina, not much else.

I'm going with 200 acres in Central Texas and moving away from all the issues that are tolerable as just a lease holder in south Texas such as daily visits from Border Patrol and regular encounters with pass through traffic and oil field service folks checking the meters.

Oh, but I do want my 200 acres to contain a shale formation.

I was thinking the same thing but voted for the 200 acres.

that would be option 2, which seems to be the most popular anyhow.

South TX hunting and fishing. It no contest for me. I'm from Corpus so I'll be right at home.

South Texas, too many border problems. Central Texas is simply too populated. East Texas would be my weak second choice. Edwards Plateau deer have reasonable gene pools, some free ranging exotics, some water, and will support any game you are willing to put time into starting on the property.

The Edwards Plateau can produce some fantastic deer if it is managed correctly. The Kerr WMA has a very nice population of trophy bucks that are 100% native to the area. As far as I know, there is no supplemental feeding either, the deer fend for themselves.
