SOmething was brought to my attention today about the fires and the high fences. I understand there are some animals that didn't get out in some areas. I not against high fences if its over 2,000 acres but... What if our GOOD friends at PETA get wind of this. just my .02 on it??? Whats yours?

I honestly wouldn't worry about. The PETA folks think a high fence, is something that's put up at the mall for crowd control.

I'm just happy to see that you approve of high fences as long as they meet your crtiteria. hammer

Screw PETA but it does suck that things like that happen. If a fire was coming and going to burn through the place they should've cut the fences

What did PETA say when 95% of the Chapperal WMA burned?

Nothing I am aware of. How many Americans even care what PETA thinks or takes them seriously?

As Cable says in his radio promo "PETA can kiss..."

Did any animals die behind a LF? Did PETA help fight the fires? If they did not then they should be allowed to comment.

PETA is only good for having hot women pose nude to promote their agenda.

Unfortunately it just doesn't always happen that way. My brother was fighting the PK fires for five days and he said that there were several instances when the deer were corned between the high fence and fire. They just burnt. The deer weren't even close to a priority and shouldn't be.

I don't understand the low fence debate entering the arguement? Those deer had a chance to survive with nothing keeping them from escaping.

Are the high fence ranches responsible for replacing the deer or are they obligated to pay the state? That should pose a good arguement.

I don't see an argument...no they should not. There was an article I glanced at in the paper yesterday that was saying some of the most wildfire/drought prone areas in the state got the lowest amount of funding for volunteer fire department training and gear over the last decade. Anyone wanna chime in on that? Again I just glanced at it so I don't know the detail.

I am sure they are short on funding just like any other budget item for small towns. For the most part anyway. I know the State still controls what goes on inside the high fence operations to a certain extent and claim that the deer belong to the State.

I would think if your high fence kept them from escaping then you could possibly be held liable. Just like if you start the fire neglegently then you could be responsible for other damages.

I truly don't have an opinion either way but just a thought that came to mind.

An now we just go on.I don't beleive any body gonna worry to much about it.because of every thing else that got burned!people are more worried about house an other structures, not animals. sad maybe but true.

I heard a rumor and if it is true I hope the owner gets pistol whipped. Honestly wouldn't mind doing it myself. This was in Tennyson where 1 high fence place had time to gather all feeders and protein feeders and move them over to the wheat field but never took time to knock down the fence. Heard over a 150 deer died all in one corner. Anybody in the right mind that doesn't think this is totally wrong is just plain stupid and ignorant.

This was for the past decade, not just last couple of years. Things were pretty good during the early 2000's.
