Saturday I was fortunate to get to hunt with JJ Kent up in Grayson Co. and was able to bag my first turkey.

After getting a response this bird took his time working towards our set-up, but JJ kept him coming. He came in strutting and drumming the whole way.....talk about exciting. It was a great experience for my first bird.

that's a great looking bird. A lot more red in it than the one I got.

Congrats!

Congratulations!!!

I know how hard you have worked for your first bird. And it's a nice big bird too! I couldn't be happier for you.

Has your face gone back to normal yet or are you still wearing that grin grin?

Landon, what an awesome hunt! We worked for that bird...

After walking and huntin' several other locations we finally got this one to respond!

The story behind this bird, was we parked then walked several hundred yards, then I started calling, stopped a few times, then finally when we were about to move to another location on the property this guy responded! banana I think I just about threw Landon under the tree and ran to put the decoy out...

From my spot in the trees, I could see behind us, where as Landon couldn't. So when the gobbler came to the call, I could see him strutting for over 75 yards...

Landon caught about the last 10 yards of him strutting...before he shot...

It was like right out of a Hunting TV show...My heart was about to come out of my chest! nuts

Absolutely a GREAT bird, and I am very happy for Landon!

Once Again, congrat's on your bird! up

Landon's bird is only the 17th bird checked in at the hunter check station in Grayson county, (of which 4 are taken with my hunters) smile

Landon's bird had:
8 3/4" beard
1 1/4" Spurs

Here are my pic's I took!
