not sure if this is the exact one but its at least similiar only it had a pink grip and silver slide. it is normally 380 but is on sale for 250 at the academy...i assume most any of them but i was at the grapevine loaction...for that price i was thinking about picking one up for the wifey...not a bad gun for the wife to have in the night stand for 250 right?

A buddy had the one in the link and I really liked it. I have no idea what they are selling for now but I want to say he paid over $300 for his. They are probably having a hard time getting rid of teh pink ones. A bad guy wont know or care what color the gun is hes be shot with though... up

My wife keeps a Mil Pro in 9mm next to the bed. I think we gave 300 for it about 5 yrs ago at a show. I seen the same gun at BPS for 419.00 about a week ago. Weve put about 300 rds down it with no malfunctions. I tend to carry it more in the summer than my full size S&W .40.

I've seen plenty of taurus milleniums with jamming issues. Would never bet my life on a taurus.

the original milleniums had jamming issues but the millenium pro models have corrected this. the 9mm millenium pro is very reliable. it wouldnt be my choice for a carry weapon, but it is reliable and is a very good buy at 250. just my oppinion

forgive the following rant.... but... I hear this all the time. I want to buy the cheapest gun possible and carry it untrained so I feel safe.

Buy a reliable weapon (they aren't cheap) and get trained to use it. And I'm not talking about being able to make a nice group standing at the indoor range. Learn to shoot on the move, learn how to clear a jam, learn how to reload without looking at the gun, know what's in the background, do you have cover, etc. Buy a good holster and be able to draw your gun if it's needed. I'm all for concealed carry but people who barely have a clue how to operate their weapon scare me. I'm not saying I'm the best in the world, but I've taken a lot of training and I have the mindset for what it takes to carry a gun.

Or buy your cute pink gun....

rant over....

hey alan- i'm not sure where you got that from my original comment. obviously for some reason you need more details about the situation then are really needed to answer the simple question i posted about. its not my cute pink gun, it would be my wife's gun. she would never carry it. it would be her back up night stand gun. I work some nights and so she spends some alone. someone broke into the apartment next door. sorry she hasnt been trained for swat, but she can chamber a round, operate a safety, and hit the target at the gun range. sorry i offended you by asking if a sale price is a good deal or not. i'm not sure why you decided to turn this thread into a rant about how people should spend more time at the gun range, but i agree with you. I go to DFW Gun's quite often (thats a shooting range) and practice my draw, reloading w/out looking and etc... next time please dont hijack a users thread just to try and sound like you know more than the rest of us.

rant over

Not a Taurus fan at all.Too many issues with quality lately.
For an extra $ 100- $ 150 you can get a more reliable pistol.
That is a nice price, however.JMO bolt

just a comment on the pink gun:
when i completed making the wives gun pink for her, i let her know that anyone she might ever have to shoot woul die from that gun.
when she asked why, i explained that once they was aware of being shot with a pink gun, they would die of embarrassment.
i dont even think they ley ya into hell if you are shot with a pink gun.

i am cancelling my subscription, i am tired of your issues!

Don't care what color it is as long as I'm on the hammer/trigger end and the bad guy is on the barrel end.......heard good & bad but probably a little more good about the more recent models. Sounds like a decent price.

(heard bad & good about Bersa too! But I bought a .380 and
have put several hundred rounds through it and have not had one single malfunction!)

My brother bought a Taurus Millenium he bought about 10 years ago that is a Total POS in my opinion. But Ive heard, Taurus has gotten a lot better since then.

Pike,
rant wasn't directed at you, just at posts like this in general. I wouldn't want your wife to bet her life on a gun that is not reliable even if she isn't constantly shooting and practicing with it. I've owned a taurus millenium and it was a POS. And mine wasn't the only one. I was in a class where we had to get a lady a Glock 19 loaner because her taurus kept jamming. I really believe in revolvers for home defense guns. They always work and if for some reason you have a bad round just pull the trigger again to hit a good one. Seriously, think about a nice used smith and wesson 38 for her and load it with some defense rounds. It will always be ready to go and she won't have to worry about jams. And I wasn't meaning to hijack your thread. You asked if this was a good gun for your wife to have on the nightstand so I would assume you want something she can count on to function properly.

I just worry about good people buying cheap guns to defend themselves. Buy whatever gun she is comfortable with, but don't skimp. Practice, and she will be ready to use it if the time ever comes.

I gotta agree with you. Their revolvers arent half bad, but am not all that impressed with their autos. My neighbor has had his back and forth to Taurus 3X in the past 6 months..still wont feed and eject reliably with ANY type ammo. They do have a lifetime warranty though..

Alan- thanks for the info on the tauras. that is exactly what i was trying to gather was peoples opinions on the reliability of a tauras and in particular the millennium pro. I def love smith and wesson revolvers and was my first thought when i began this process. I just happened to see the tauras on sale somewhere so i figured id look into it. thanks to yalls thoughts i dont have much interest in a tauras pistol. thanks again.

I have owned several Taurus models, even a millenium pro, only issues with any of them was one that my neighbor had bought brand new and took it to the range with cheap ammo. It would jam with every other shot. Put in some different ammo and it cycled fine the rest of the day. After cleaning the pistol thoroughly and running a few hundred rounds thru it it will cycle even the cheap ammo that it wouldn't before. not sure if it was the assembly grease or just needed a break-in. but it works perfect now. One thing I like about my Colt 1911 is that it has cycled every piece of ammo I have ran through the magazine. No break in periods, no ammo shopping, and not one jam in 9 years.

I am not saying anything bad about anyone elses pistols, but I like being able to have 100% confidence in my pistol.
