I did this myself. I thought the results were pretty nice!

BTW, that's a cactus needed protruding below the molars. That thing ran through the bone.

Very nice! Got one just like it, minus the cactus needle, which is pretty cool.

No, "stewed" it for 15 hours at a temp just under boiling. I read that boiling will shrink the skull. After 15 hours the meat/flesh just fell off. Made cleaning it very easy. I then "stewed"it for several more hours in clean water. Used a toothbrush and a toothpick to clean out all the remaining gunk. After drying for a week or so I soaked in 40% peroxide for a couple days.

Funny thing about getting older: Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to see through people's BS gets much better.

looks good. The "off" color on top of the skull is most likely grease/fat trapped in the bone. It will keep rising to the suface unless you degrease it. I use very hot, clean soapy water to do mine. On javelina, it may take a few treatments.
When finished, bleach it again with peroxide.
Just my .02, looks really good.

yup needs degreased. Javelina take a while to degrease thoroughly. But when done properly, the skull will stay white for a lifetime!

JB, what do you use to degrease? I have been using hot water with Dawn in it. Seems to work well, but I treat all skulls several times with fresh water.

Dawn and heated water mainly. All skulls get a pre treatment of my special solution before normal degreasing. Deer take me 2-3 weeks to degrease. Hogs, bears, antelope and a few others get extra treatment in stronger chemicals after the initial 2-3 weeks of normal degreasing cause they are so greasy.

Good job for a first, Mix some dish washing liquid in some hot water and let it sit for a day or two. Then rinse good, and let dry!!! Next put in poroxide, not bleach for a couple days, then sit in the hot sun for a day!

Nice going for your first skull. Like the boys said above, got to de-grease or it will keep coming through forever. Great start.
