Be prepared for a crazy addiction. It is so much fun. Remember to aim low. When you thing you are aiming low enough, go lower. Dont give up. I shot at prolly 100 fish before I finally connected on my 1st one. Now, I can hit a few more. I dont know much bout those DFW lakes but the lakes here in CenTex are alright.

I would say that most area lakes have decent bowfishing but its a "timing" thing. When the gar are spawning, the males push the females up next to the bank, making them pretty easy pickin's.

You could probably go to any stretch of the Trinity River and get some bowfishing in, as well. Some MONSTER alligator gar in there. eek2

Just FYI it is no longer legal to shoot catfish with a bow. For your own good read the anual and dont post that on the internet any more.

Not stir here, but are ya sure about that? I've been trying to find some info on it.

The TPWD website only states that catfish are game fish and aren't legal. It doesn't say anything about private property.

Again, I'm not pointing fingers, just looking for clarification.

I'm fairly certain. I killed shot it while my grandpas lawyer friend was out at our place and we were joking about it. And he said it's actually fine.

I reall dont konw on that note, out of a private tank you should be fine, not sure about creek/river, but bet that would be illegal. Not saying I never did anything wrong, just sayin watch what you say... never know who is listening.

As long the lake is on private property then no fishing regulations apply. Shoot as many and what you want. Hunting regs. do apply tho.

I shoot gar on lavon when they are spawning, but my spot is a field right now. Try paddling down the greenbelt corridor from 380 to loserville and you might get a few spotted and longnose gar. up

Legal in private waters. Just like keeping a 12" bass out of a private lake. State rules govern public waters only.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.
