Should i zero at 25, 50, 75, or 100?
my 308 is zero'd at 25 and is no more than 2" from zero between 25 yards and 200 yards
i'd like the best zero to keep me on point out to 100 without a huge holdover (or under) from 25 to 100 yards

the ballistics of the .44 in no way compare to the .308, no comparison unless you are shooting at 100 yards or less. the .308 is a proven sniper round for a reason, never hear of the .44 mention in the same breath.

the .44 will be a 100 yard gun. I doubt i'll every shoot past 100. Just wondering if there is an optimal zero for .44

Why not leave it with iron sights if you're not planning on using it past 100yds?
I guess I just think lever guns look funny with scopes. That said, I have a scope on my .30-30...so I should shut it.

my rifle will be used almost exclusively in very low light conditions hunting hogs under very dim feeder lights...
a scope gives me a lot more LGP... also magnification out to 300 yards can be very useful for target identification
hell, crosshairs make me more accurate... i shoot my 22 with iron well past 100 yards, but i still like a good optic when i can get one

Good point about low light. I didn't think of that angle. Just zero it to whatever your stand is to your feeder.

If you go to Hornady's website there should be data for the LE data. Find the drop from 0-100 and sight it in for the distance where the drop is 1/2. That should give you a 100 yd gun that is within 1.5" at all ranges.

Mine's zeroed at 50, max 100 yard gun, with XS ghost rings.
