Just brain storming at work trying to pass the time an I though of this.
If you somehow got ahold of a tracking chip that vets put in animals, could you put it in a gun? So that if it's stolen you could call in your missing "dog" to find out where it's at?

Sure you could but since they would have to have it in they're possession to scan it they could just as easily run the numbers as long as it's been reported.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I dont think those chips are like homing beakens, the chips are implanted and when a stray dog is taken in they scan for them.

I doubt the police stations check for them lol

That's right. It's not like a GPS, someone would have to scan it, then the owners information would pop up.

What you want is Low Jack for your guns, then if stolen you could find it by satellite right after you disabled the weapon! now put down the left handed cigs, and you guys get back to work! LOL just kidding!

Well hate to burst ur bubble but Low-Jack doesn't send LE a GPS locatio to where your car is, it just send out a signal which is detected by the Low Jack Unit in patrol cars so that we know a stolen vehilce is somewhere nearby and then have to start running license plates to try and figure out where the heck the car went.

On top of that we don't have a scanning device for those chips.

OHRAH! Its a Marine thing.
