Hey guys I;ve got a S&W M&P 15 with the standard front Iron sight. I am wanting to replace it with a low profile gas block with a top rail to put use folding Iron sight. How hard are these to install? Any tips or pointers? Also If anyone know a good gun shop in Houston to get this done at that would help to. Thanks allot guys

With the right tools its fairly easy. Getting your factory FSP off will be the hardest part.
You would punch out the pins that are in there now, punch out gas tube retainer pin, then remove flashhider and it will all slide out. Use two pieces of wood or AR vice blocks to take off flashhider and to install it after your done.
Buy a new crush washer for your flashhider, the original is only supposed to be used once. Or use peel washer when you reinstall. Peel washers are required if your gonna use a can sometime like a HALO.

Yes! The two pins that hold the front sight base in place are taper pins. They come out one way and go in one way only so be sure you are beating on the right end of the pin before you start. They can be a pain in the *** to knock out too! Good luck!

I read somewhere that while most of the taper pins punch out L to R the S&W rifles punch out R to L. My DPMS punched out L to R. I just replaced one, took me all of 5 minutes but I did not have a flash hider to deal with. Also don't forget to punch out the gas tube pin. My gas tube took some lubricant to loosen up from the gas block.
