I'm worried too. I believe my ranch is either burning now or it's in the path. Anyone know if it's around W. Co. Rd. 170 and Co.Rd. 1270?

About half of our place in Crosby county burned to the ground last night. We are just off of 207.

Well Buggs went out towards my place earlier today and from what he says, I'm betting my place got torched.

They are now evacuating the town of Fort Davis. That fire started at a house in Marfa & is now roaring through Fort Davis.

Don't think there's any need to worry about anything near Highway 277, at least at this point. It is a pretty good ways West of there.

Here is a pretty good article on the Fort Davis area fires with 14 pictures slideshow.

FORT DAVIS — This small town at the base of some of the most beautiful mountains in Texas now looks as if it's surrounded by a giant, black lava flow. Once-golden rangeland is so black that Angus cattle are camouflaged.

Weekend wildfires, intensified by strong winds, had spread to more than 60,000 acres Sunday in Presidio and Jeff Davis counties, and they came within licking distance of the Jeff Davis County Courthouse, leveling a historical home just across the highway from it.

Flames nearly reached the Hotel Limpia, built in 1912, and its famed courtyard garden, as well as other buildings along the main street of Fort Davis as the skies rained ash.

A fire in the winter is better than a fire on a hot Spring and Summer day. A hot fire will kill trees, a cool fire and most of the trees will survive. That being said, I don't want any fire on my place.

Just got off the phone with a friend of mine from NW of San Angelo and he told me that have a fire there right now. Started with lightening on his cousins ranch to the north of him last night at 9 and they had it undercontrol this morning at daylight and the wind picked up and it took off again moving in a southerly direction. His cousin had about 1500 acres burned and he had about 500 burned and it was moving away from them. Wind is laying now so they are getting better control of it. He also said that he heard of a fire at Ft. Stockton also that was going today.

Fire is about 80% contained as of about 8:00 p.m. tonight. Winds weren't bad yesterday, and the North winds today helped turn it back towards areas already burned.
Here is the website we check for progress on:
